French Onion Soup Burgers



Ingredients:

Burger Patties:


1 lb ground beef πŸ₯©

Salt and pepper to taste πŸ§‚

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 🍢


Caramelized Onions:


2 large onions, thinly sliced πŸ§…

2 tablespoons butter 🧈

1 teaspoon sugar 🍬

1/2 cup beef broth 🍲

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme) 🌿


For Assembly:


4 slices GruyΓ¨re or Swiss cheese πŸ§€

4 hamburger buns 🍞

1 clove garlic, minced (optional for garlic butter buns) πŸ§„

Additional butter for buns 🧈


Directions:


Caramelize the Onions: 

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add sliced onions and sugar, cooking and stirring occasionally until onions are deep brown and sweet (about 20-25 minutes). Deglaze the pan with beef broth if the onions start to stick.


 Prepare the Burger Patties: 

Mix ground beef with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce, then form into 4 patties.


Cook the Burgers: 

Grill or cook the patties in a separate skillet to desired doneness.


Garlic Butter Buns (Optional): 

Mix butter and minced garlic, spread on buns, and toast until golden brown.


Assemble the Burgers: 

Place each patty on a bun bottom. Top with caramelized onions, a slice of cheese, and broil until cheese melts and bubbles.
